60-year-old Palm Beach woman arrested on DUI charges

Palm Beach police arrested a resident early Saturday morning and charged her with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a suspendedlicense and leaving the scene of a crash that involved property damage.
A doorman at The Biltmore told police Dorian Amy Lipman, 60, was walking unsteadily as she entered the condominium. When she left, Lipman got into her vehicle, drove it forward, then abruptly put it in reverse, according to police. The car crashed into an awning support pole, causing a light dome to fall and break, said Sgt. Tom Melnichok.
The light fixture has a $400 value, he said.
Around 1:30 a.m., police stopped Lipman as she exited her car in a garage at Breakers Row, where she lives. Lipman failed a number of field sobriety tests, used profane language and yelled at officers, Melnichok said. As they always do, police took two breath samples.
Her blood alcohol readings were 1.60 and 1.57, Melnichok said. “She was double the legal limit,” he said.
Lipman was arrested and taken to the Palm Beach County Jail. She was released on her own recognizance without bond around 10 a.m. Saturday.

Police: Sand Springs Woman Arrested For DUI After Hitting Two Cars

SAND SPRINGS, Oklahoma - A Sand Springs woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and child endangerment after police say she collided with two cars Friday afternoon while picking her son up from school.
Kristy Larie Terhune was arrested after she was in a traffic collision near 200 North Wilson, according to Sand Springs Police.

Witnesses told an investigating officer they had seen Terhune driving across lanes before she sideswiped a different car in the 1700 block of West Wekiwa then continued driving to North Wilson.

The officer interviewed the 36-year-old woman and said her speech was slow and lethargic.

When he asked her what caused her to collide with the other vehicle, Terhune reportedly said she had just picked up her son at school and may have been talking to him

Police asked Terhune if she was on any prescription drugs, and she said she took several prescriptions regularly including Flexeril, Xanax and Percocet, the arrest report states. The officer did field sobriety tests and said Terhune stumbled and swayed while performing them.

The driver of second car she had hit said they did not want to file an accident report because their car wasn't damaged. The driver of the car she had sideswiped showed up and handed police the driver side mirror off Terhune's vehicle which had been knocked off the car.

Terhune was booked on complaints of DUI drugs, first offense; child endangerment, and failure to carry insurance verification. She was released on bond.

Federal Way police begin DUI patrols in honor of teen victims

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- Federal Way police are making the streets safer this weekend in honor of two teenagers who were killed nearly four years ago by a drunk driver.

Derek King and Nicholas Hodges, both students at Decatur High School, died in June 2010 after Alexander Peder hit their car on Interstate-5 in Tukwila. Peder had a history of DUI arrests.

"It's very difficult to live through it every single day," said Derek's father Randall King. "It will never go away. We'll always relive the moment of June 9th and when that happened."

Derek King was just an hour from his 19th birthday and a few days from high school graduation when he died.

Federal Way Police are now starting the "Nick and Derek Project" to let others know that driving while impaired will not be tolerated.

"The number one thing is it's a great way to memorialize two wonderful people who were our citizens and our students that died at the hands of a drunk driver," said Federal Way police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock.

Second update: DUI suspected in today's major injury crash on SR 36

A Dinsmore resident was arrested today on suspicion of driving under the influence after a major injury accident on State Route 36 at Little Golden Gate that sent two people to the hospital.

The CHP reported that Dinsmore resident Jerrica Ann Taylor, 26, was driving eastbound in a 1988 Toyota when she crossed over the centerline and struck a 1996 Subaru driven by Sheila Lynn Fine, 55, around 11 a.m. Fine and her passenger Phillip James Keeney, 39, both Dinsmore residents, suffered major injuries and were taken to Redwood Memorial Hospital, the CHP collision report states.

Fine was later transferred to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, according to CHP. Taylor suffered minor injuries and was arrested on suspicion of DUI, officials said. Everyone was wearing a seatbelt.

How Justin Bieber Can Beat His DUI

Canada’s most-dangerous man can beat the charge on him in Florida that he was driving drunk—only if he doesn’t take a plea bargain.
There is only one good reason to ever take a plea bargain. The magic lies in the "bargain" portion and like any good bargain you want to benefit more than the person on the other side. That's what makes it a deal, right?

Under that rationale, Justin Bieber has some options to weigh. Bieber currently faces three misdemeanor counts in Miami-Dade County, consisting of driving under the influence (DUI), driving with an expired license, and resisting arrest. He should only take the deal, and plead no contest to a charge of reckless driving, only if he believes the state of Florida can absolutely get a DUI conviction against him. Otherwise, it's a pretty bum deal for Bieber.

Typically, plea bargains are worthwhile for defendants because the reduced charges and sentence received for entering a guilty plea (and thereby saving the tax payers big dollars along with the prosecutor's time associated with a trial) outweighs the risks involved with losing at trial and facing more severe charges and rougher sentencing. Plea bargains really start to make sense when the prosecutor's case is airtight and a conviction appears inevitable.

Man convicted of killing woman in DUI crash arrested for DUI again

SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. —A man spent nearly seven years behind bars for killing a Hardin County woman in a drunken driving accident. Now he's facing charges in Bullitt County for driving under the influence again

And the victim's family is furious because he may just get a slap on the wrist.

William Stacy Redmon will appear in court in March. He was pulled over for a DUI. The part that is upsetting a victim's family in the area is he was convicted of killing a woman in 2005 while he was driving drunk.

"Ironically, I was at work and witnessed him getting arrested. The field sobriety test, the whole nine yards. He got pulled over in the parking lot of the gas station where I was working," said Christina Phillips, whose sister, Jannel Elderidge, was killed in the crash.

Mom of baby killed in alleged DUI wreck also charged

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
One week after a Cobb County father allegedly killed his 8-month-old son in drug-related crash, the baby’s mother was also charged, arrest records show.
Wykenia Lashea Harris, 30, of a Marietta address, was arrested Saturday afternoon at WellStar Kennestone Hospital and charged with three counts of second-degree child cruelty and second-degree vehicular homicide, according to Cobb County jail records.
On Feb. 15, Harris’ infant son was killed in a wrong-way crash on Windy Hill Road at South Cobb Drive in Smyrna. Investigators believe Darren Curry, 31, was under the influence of drugs when he crossed into the eastbound lanes and collided head-on with another vehicle, police previously said.
The crash killed Curry’s and Harris’ 8-month-old baby and injured two other children, ages 3 and 7, police said. Curry, Harris and the driver of another car were also injured in the crash.

Amanda Bynes' DUI charge from two years ago is 'dismissed' as star pleads no contest to reckless driving

Amanda Bynes's DUI charge dating back two years has been dismissed, according to TMZ.
The troubled star was arrested back in April 2012 in West Hollywood when she received the DUI charge.
While Amanda was not present at court, her lawyer Rich Hutton accepted the a plea of 'wet reckless', said to be a 'drinking-relating offense that does not have the serious consequence of DUI' TMZ report.

The site also claims that her license was suspended because she refused to submit an alcohol test.
Earlier this month, Amanda Bynes' mother has been praised for helping her to turn her life around.
Lynn Bynes became the actress's temporary conservator, giving her control of the star's personal and financial affairs in July last year.

Justin Bieber rejecting plea deal in Miami DUI case: report

Prosecutors have cooked up a deal that Justin Bieber and his legal team apparently don't like. The Canadian pop star is rejecting a plea deal involving random drug testing, stemming from his Miami Beach DUI charge in January, TMZ reports.
Bieber, 19, reportedly does not want the plea deal often given to first-time DUI offenders — which includes community service, an alcohol abuse class, and random drug testing.

BPD held another DUI checkpoint, looking for more than impaired drivers

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Officers were out in full force Friday night in an effort to reduce the number of DUI crashes. They held a DUI checkpoint between the hours of 6 p.m. and 2 a.m.

Officers told 23ABC they were looking for more than just impaired drivers. They were also looking for people that don't have proper licenses and insurance.

Officers said during this DUI inspection, 867 vehicles were screened. There were three DUI suspects arrested, two for alcohol and one for drugs. 42 drivers were cited or arrested for operating a vehicle without a license or with a suspended or revoked license. A total of 23 vehicles were impounded.

BPD organizes several DUI checkpoints throughout the year, and it's an opportunity to give people who have had a little too much to drink a chance to make the right decisions.

"Across the United States, thousands of people are killed and injured every year from drunk driving and alcohol and drug related accidents, and it's really senseless," said Lt. Greg Terry from BPD.

Close to ten years ago, Michael Benge lost his wife to a drunk driver and shares his tragedy with the Mothers Against Drunk Drivers organization.

Chris Kattan Back In The Saddle After Dui Arrest

Chris Kattan was back in action Friday night with a brand new ride after totaling his old whip and getting busted for DUI.

Chris was leaving Craig's in West Hollywood in a very nice Mercedes ... and clearly did not want to talk about the wild ride in the old Mercedes that ended up in the junk heap.
MZ broke the story ... Chris was arrested last week after crashing into a parked vehicle inside a coned area on the 101 Freeway.  Cops say he admitted to being under the influence of drugs, not alcohol.  He appeared totally out of it when he flunked his field sobriety test.

Earlier in the day ... Chris was so whacked out on a flight from Canada to L.A. ... paramedics were there when the plane pulled up to the gate and they treated the former "Saturday Night Live" star.
