Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison's daughter charged with DWI

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- The daughter of Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison has been charged with DWI.

Raleigh police arrested 46 year-old Paula Harrison on Feb. 3. after finding her with her car stuck in the mud along the beltline near Poole Road.

Sheriff Harrison released a statement on the incident. It said, "Early Monday morning, February 3rd my daughter, Paula, was charged with driving while impaired. While this is an embarrassing incident for her and me, I love my daughter and will support her to the extent any other father would stand behind their child. However, I have confidence in the Criminal Justice System and intend to let it function without any interference on my part. I do not plan to make any further comment on this situation until the case is completely adjudicated."

Harrison has served as sheriff for the past 11 years.
