Owego mayor's DWI arrest prompted by missing license plate
Pulled over early Sunday for a missing front license plate, Owego Mayor Kevin Millar admitted he consumed six alcoholic drinks before being charged with drunken driving, according to police records.
Millar, 67, of Front Street, was arrested on Temple Street in Owego at 2:20 a.m., after Tioga County Sheriff’s Deputy Joshua Delmage saw Millar’s 2008 Mazda sitting on Front Street without a front license plate, according to police records. The deputy followed the vehicle briefly before making a traffic stop.
Speaking with Delmage during the traffic stop, Millar first stated he had three drinks that evening, but eventually admitted he actually consumed six, according to police records obtained by the Press & Sun-Bulletin through a Freedom of Information Law request.
