Grandmother jailed after DWI wreck with three children inside car
A Harlingen woman is facing criminal charges after she allegedly drank alcohol and got into a wreck with three of her grandchildren in the car.
Harlingen police arrested 45-year-old Norma Cisneros Martinez following a Wednesday night accident.
Investigators told Action 4 News that officers were called out to South Commerce Street and South 77 Sunshine Strip after her Nissan Sentra hit a steel light pole.
Officers reported that Martinez appeared intoxicated and had three of her grandchildren inside her car.
Martinez allegedly failed a field sobriety test and was taken to a local hospital for a mandatory blood draw.
The children were not injured and released to the custody of their mother.
Police charged Martinez with three counts of a DWI with a child passenger.
Martinez remains in custody at the Cameron County Jail under $300,000 dollars in bonds.
