Albuquerque man faces 6th arrest on DWI charges

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —An Albuquerque man is in custody for what police said was his sixth arrest on drunken driving charges.
Manuel Chavez, 43, was stopped by police for allegedly running a red light early Friday morning.

He reportedly told police he'd only had two beers and refused a breathalyzer test.

In court on Saturday, it was revealed that Chavez has been arrested 33 times with 16 known convictions, three of which were for driving while intoxicated.

With 57 bench warrants in his past -- many for failure to appear -- the judge ordered Chavez held on a $50,00 bond.
